MLS Power Rankings, Week 5: Dallas reigns supreme

New, 5 comments

The other team in Texas takes the top spot.

Jim O'Connor-USA TODAY Sports

Your weekly power rankings are back once again, and are back in my grubby hands. The last week's rankings are the rankings that you, the readers, chose. I apparently disapprove of your favorability towards the Whitecaps, as I am pretty harsh towards them. This weekends' games produced primarily draws, so anyone who got a win was rewarded with a solid bounce up the chart.

Who do you have where and why?

Rank LW Team Points Games played Comment
1 3 FC Dallas 13 5 Smacking around their in-state rivals gets them the top spot
2 6 Toronto FC 9 4 Their depth will be tested this week, with everyone injured to some degree
3 2 Real Salt Lake 9 5 Quietly consistent, as always
4 5 Sporting Kansas City 8 5 Loudly consistent, as always
5 1 Columbus Crew 9 4 Came crashing to earth against TFC, but I expect them to contend all year
6 4 Houston Dynamo 6 4 Is there really much of a difference between them and the Union?
7 8 Seattle Sounders 7 5 Exciting game, but not one to move up the rankings
8 9 Colorado Rapids 7 4 The sleeper team is slowly waking
9 12 LA Galaxy 4 3 Destruction of Chivas a sign that the Galaxy are back on track?
10 7 Vancouver Whitecaps 8 5 I'm lower on the 'Caps than most, but I feel fine with it so far
11 10 Philadelphia Union 6 5 Is there really much of a difference between them and the Dynamo?
12 11 Chivas USA 5 5 Their loss would drop them further, but other teams' performance intervened
13 13 Portland Timbers 3 5 Nothing has gone right yet for the Timbers
14 18 D.C. United 4 4 A win rockets them out of the cellar!
15 14 San Jose Earthquakes 1 3 The Goonies keep falling and falling...
16 15 Chicago Fire 4 5 Above the Red Bulls out of spite
17 16 New York Red Bulls 4 5 The Supporters' Shield champs are still winless this year
18 17 New England Revolution 4 5 A loss to D.C. United puts them at the bottom of the 4-pointers
19 19 Montreal Impact 2 5 Still old, slow, and figured out
