Despite the meteoric rise of FC Dallas, their home-state rivals remain on top of the B&RU Power Rankings. We D.C. United fans have been burned too many times by Dominic Kinnear and the Houston Dynamo to ever underestimate them; the fact that they are undefeated after two games leads me to worry that they may have finally figured out this whole "regular season." thing. At the bottom, the two teams are the two you would expect and the only two without points.
I'm especially interested to hear what you all think of my ranking of the Vancouver Whitecaps; too low, too high, or just right?
Rank | LW | Team | Points | Games played | Comment |
| 1 | Houston Dynamo | 6 | 2 | No game, no problem |
| 2 | Toronto FC | 6 | 2 | Michael Bradley, Jermain Defoe, and Gilberto are scary if they stay healthy |
| 7 | FC Dallas | 7 | 3 | Oscar Pareja continues to work his magic. |
| 5 | Seattle Sounders | 6 | 3 | They've only played Eastern Conference teams so far |
| 14 | Columbus Crew | 6 | 2 | The Crew might be the real deal |
| 3 | Real Salt Lake | 5 | 3 | Battle against Toronto will be a great watch |
| 4 | Sporting Kansas City | 4 | 3 | First win puts the Sporks back on track |
| 13 | Colorado Rapids | 4 | 2 | Early returns are encouraging, despite not having a coach until after the season started |
| 8 | Chivas USA | 4 | 3 | Got caught in the FCD steamroller, but I'm still high on the Goats |
| 7 | Portland Timbers | 2 | 3 | They'll turn it around, but imagine in outcry if they don't |
| 12 | Philadelphia Union | 4 | 3 | If the Union midfield can figure it out, their patchwork defense might not matter |
| 6 | LA Galaxy | 1 | 2 | Despite the drop, I expect them to rebound |
| 11 | San Jose Earthquakes | 1 | 2 | Never sleep on Wondo |
| 9 | Vancouver Whitecaps | 5 | 3 | I know their point total suggests they should be higher, but they look oh so bad |
| 15 | New York Red Bulls | 2 | 3 | Schadenbulls |
| 16 | Chicago Fire | 2 | 3 | Hopefully they're just want the doctor ordered for DCU |
| 18 | New England Revolution | 1 | 3 | Deserved more, but Teal Bunbury is no Agudelo |
| 17 | Montreal Impact | 0 | 3 | At least someone wants to give United company at the bottom of the league |
| 19 | D.C. United | 0 | 2 | The most frustrating team to watch in the league |
