MLS 2013 Week 2 Schedule, TV/streaming options and predictions

Here's all the info you'll need to keep up with the second week of the new MLS season, as well as our crack team of editors' predictions for every match.

Russ Isabella-US PRESSWIRE

Week 1 of the 2013 MLS season saw most of our editors here at B&RU make very similar predictions on most matches. Which is a little weird when you think about it, because nobody had played a game yet, and so opinions should be more varied on each team. At any rate, there's a three-way tie atop the pecking order, and last place is only one game out of it. Here are the standings as they stand one week in:

Adam: 5 points | Chest: 5 pts | Benuski: 4 pts | Stephen: 5 pts

And here's this week slate of matches.

Sat. Mar. 9, 1:30 pm: Toronto FC vs. Sporting Kansas City - MLS Live
Adam: SKC. Chest: SKC. Benuski: SKC. Stephen: SKC.

This game promises to be tougher for Sporting than their opener at Philly, if only because Ryan Nelsen won't be actively and inexplicably ruining his team's chances like John Hackworth did. -Chest

Sat. Mar. 9, 6 pm: Colorado Rapids vs. Philadelphia Union - MLS Live

Adam: COL. Chest: COL. Benuski: COL. Stephen: COL.

If Hackworth was happy with what he saw on Saturday, Chivas and TFC will be competing for 18th because Philly has 19th locked up. -Benuski

Sat. Mar. 9, 7 pm: D.C. United vs. Real Salt Lake - MLS Live (no local coverage at this point)
Adam: Draw. Chest: DCU. Benuski: Draw. Stephen: DCU.

If Pajoy and Ruiz both score, how many heads will explode at RFK? Bring your poncho, it's going to be gross. -Chest

Sat. Mar. 9, 7:30 pm: Chicago Fire vs. New England Revolution - NBCSN
Adam: CHI. Chest: CHI. Benuski: Draw. Stephen: CHI.

Anybody else think the suits at NBC Sports Network are rethinking their match selection after Chicago's performance last week? Most aren't expecting much of the Revs anyway, so choosing this one for national TV was already a little weird, but after the Fire's 4-0 shellacking by the Galaxy last week, somebody is probably apologizing to Arlo and Kyle for sending them to this one. -Adam

Sat. Mar. 9, 7:30 pm: Vancouver Whitecaps vs. Columbus Crew - MLS Live
Adam: CLB. Chest: VAN. Benuski: Draw. Stephen: VAN.

Lost in all the "ha ha, Chivas sucks!" talk is that the new-look Crew defense gave up some great chances, including 2 that were essentially old-school MLS shootout-style breakaways. Chivas wasted those opportunities, but they don't have Darren Mattocks. -Chest

Sat. Mar. 9, 10:30 pm: Portland Timbers vs. Montreal Impact - MLS Live
Adam: Draw. Chest: Draw. Benuski: Draw. Stephen: Draw.

Can an ancient Italian defense stave off the Portland Zips? -Benuski

Sun. Mar. 10, 5 pm: Chivas USA vs. FC Dallas - UniMas
Adam: DAL. Chest: DAL. Benuski: DAL. Stephen: DAL.

FC Dallas invade las chivas, pero sólo 2.000 testigos de la masacre. -Esteban

Sun. Mar. 10, 10 pm: San Jose Earthquakes vs. New York Red Bulls
Adam: SJ. Chest: SJ. Benuski: Draw. Stephen: SJ.

Who else thinks Chris Wondolowski is licking his chops after the Metros' second-half meltdown last week? The defending Golden Boot winner missed some decent chances against RSL; I wouldn't expect that streak to continue on Sunday. -Adam
