As the head-to-head league got underway a week late, the classic league was led by Arjakusumah, who scored 95 points while also taking a 1-point lead at the top of the league.

Positional Leaders

Goalkeepers

Sean Johnson (NYC, $6.3) kept a clean sheet on the way to 9 points, leading the goalkeepers, just ahead of Matt Turner (NE, $6.4), whose clean sheet helped him to 8 points. Jimmy Maurer (DAL, $6.5) rounded out the top three with 6 points. For United, Chris Seitz ($4.7) scored 3 points.

Defenders

A trio of NYC defenders set the pace, with Gudmundur Thórarinsson ($5.2) pairing a goal with a clean sheet to lead the position with 12 points. Alongside him were Alexander Callens ($6.2) and Maxime Chanot ($6.5), both of whom posted 10 points on a clean sheet. The D.C. defense was led by Frederic Brillant ($5.5) with 4 points, followed by Antonio Alfaro ($4.5) with 3 points, and the pair of Brendan Hines-Ike ($6.0) and Joseph Mora ($4.8) with 2 each.

Midfielders

Jesus Medina (NYC, $7.8) was the third player from New York City’s only team to lead his position this round, scoring 16 points on the strength of two goals. Jamiro Monteiro (PHI, $9.4) trailed him with a goal and 11 points, while Eduard Atuesta (LA, $10.2) scored a goal and 10 points. For DCU, Julian Gressel ($8.3) led with 3 points; ahead of the trio of Russell Canouse ($5.3), Edison Flores ($7.7), and Yamil Asad ($6.5) with 2 points each; and the duo of Junior Moreno ($6.5) and Moses Nyeman ($4.3) with 1 point each.

Forwards

Mononymic Chicharito (LAG, $9.0) scored a hat trick on the way to 18 points, leading all forwards and all players. Trailing him was the pair of Austin’s Cecilio Dominguez ($9.5), who scored twice on the way to 13 points, and San Jose’s Cade Cowell ($4.9), whose goal and assist helped him on to 13 points. Erik Sorga ($4.2) led the D.C. forwards with 2 points, while Nigel Robertha ($6.6), Adrien Perez ($4.0), and Kimarni Smith ($4.0) scored 1 each.

Looking Ahead

Toronto is the odd team out on bye this round, which is fine because they aren’t exactly lighting it up. Everyone else plays once. Eloy Room (CLB, $6.5) looks good in goal “at” Montreal, while Cristian Gutierrez (VAN, $5.5) is a strong option in defense vs. Colorado. I like Nani (ORL, $9.2) in the midfield vs. Cincinnati’s sieve of a defense, and look at Gonzalo Higuain (MIA, $10.5), he of two consecutive braces, at forward at Nashville.
