Fantasy Focus: Ant's on Fire

Sebastian Giovinco can't stop scoring.

Two teams split the scoring lead this round, with !BL4CKnRED-2014Champ and Rolfin' on the River scoring 146 points each. Both teams captained Sebastian Giovinco (TOR, $13.6), who scored 50 points with a hat trick in one game and an assist in the other. They also both used RSL teammates Javier Morales ($11.0), who added an assist to two goals for 23 points, and Joao Plata ($9.7), who contributed two assists for 12 points. !BL4CKnRED-2014Champ is still the overall leader.

Positional Leaders

Goalkeepers

Alex Bono (TOR, $4.7) earned a clean sheet in one of two games for 11 points, leading the position. Six goalkeepers tied with 8 points -- Tim Howard (COL, $6.3), Evan Bush (MTL, $5.3), Josh Saunders (NYC, $5.2), Jake Gleeson (POR, $4.8), Nick Rimando (RSL, $6.3), and David Bingham (SJ, $6.2). All but Rimando had a clean sheet. Bill Hamid ($6.2) scored 4 points for DCU.

Defenders

Marlon Hairston (COL, $5.3) put up a clean sheet, a goal, and an assist for 17 points. Toronto teammates Steven Beitashour ($7.8) and Josh Williams ($6.5) rounded out the top scorers with 14 and 13 points respectively. Beitashour posted two clean sheets, and Williams had one. The D.C. defense featured Taylor Kemp ($8.0) with 9 points, Steve Birnbaum ($7.7) with 8, Bobby Boswell ($8.1) with 2, and Sean Franklin ($8.1) with 1.

Midfielders

Javier Morales led the midfielders with his 23 points. Tranquillo Barnetta ($7.9) scored a goal and 14 points, and Sacha Kljestan (NYR, $12.6) tallied an assist for 11 points. In the DCU midfield was Patrick Nyarko ($7.4) with 9 points; followed by Nick DeLeon ($6.3) with 4; the trio of Lamar Neagle ($8.0), Rob Vincent ($5.9), and Lloyd Sam ($9.2) with 2 points; and Julian Buescher ($5.5) with 1.

Forwards

Sebastian Giovinco's 25 points led all forwards and all scorers. Clint Dempsey (SEA, $10.8) scored a hat trick on the way to 17 points, while his teammate Jordan Morris ($8.4) tallied two assists and 13 points. For United, Kennedy Igboananike ($7.9) and Patrick Mullins ($6.3) scored two points, and Luciano Acosta ($8.4) scored 1.

Looking Ahead

Everyone plays once this round, and games start on Friday. Try on Josh Saunders in goal at Columbus, and get Walker Zimmerman (DAL, $6.7) back in defense at home against Kansas City. Chris Pontius (PHI, $7.5) is your midfield man at New England, and Cyle Larin (ORL, $9.6) is a good bet to get back among the goals at Chicago.
