Fantasy Focus: Piling On

Just when you thought it was going to get close.

Adam Hunger-USA TODAY Sports

The overall league lead had slipped to 97 points, so Poor Man's Porales rectified that by scoring 134 points, 21 more points than anyone else, leading the round and extending the overall lead back up to 129 points. Sebastian Giovinco (TOR, $12.3) led the team with an armband-aided 32 points on a goal and an assist. Backing him up was Robbie Keane (LA, $11.2) with 17 points on a goal and two assists, and the duo of Steve Birnbaum (DCU, $7.8) and Kei Kamara (CLB, $9.3), who each scored 15 points -- Birnbaum with two clean sheets, and Kamara with two goals and an assist.

Positional Leaders

Goalkeepers

D.C.'s own Bill Hamid ($6.5) led all goalkeepers with 14 points on two clean sheets. The duo of Stefan Frei (SEA, $5.9) and Chris Konopka (TOR, $5.2) scored 12 points each -- Frei with a saved penalty, and Konopka with a clean sheet.

Defenders

Matt Miazga (NYR, $5.7) led all defenders and all scorers with 18 points on a goal and a clean sheet, while the DCU pair of Bobby Boswell ($9.5) and Steve Birnbaum scored 15 points each -- Boswell had two clean sheets. The rest of the United backline featured Taylor Kemp ($7.8), Luke Mishu ($4.6) and Kofi Opare ($5.2) with 8 points each, and Chris Korb ($5.7) with 7.

Midfielders

Juninho (LA, $8.8) scored two goals on the way to 17 points and the lead among midfielders. Ethan Finlay (CLB, $8.7) and the Toronto duo of Michael Bradley ($10.4) and Sebastian Giovinco each scored 16 points -- Finlay with a goal and two assists, and Bradley with one of each. D.C.'s midfield was led by Nick DeLeon ($6.4) and Perry Kitchen ($7.5) with 6 points each, followed by Luis Silva ($8.3) with 5 points; the trio of Davy Arnaud ($6.5), Markus Halsti ($7.0), and Miguel Aguilar ($4.9) with 4, and both Chris Rolfe ($9.2) and Facundo Coria ($7.0) with 3.

Forwards

Robbie Keane's 17 points led all forwards, while Kei Kamara's 15 followed close behind. Fanendo Adi (POR, $9.7) scored two goals and 14 points. DCU's Conor Doyle ($5.5) led the team's forwards with 7 points, while Jairo Arrieta ($6.4) and Fabian Espindola ($10.4) earned 3 each.

Looking Ahead

Philadelphia and Kansas City each have a bye, and everyone else plays once. I like David Ousted (VAN, $5.7) in goal @ COL, and Laurent Ciman (MTL, $7.7) in defense vs. NYC. Ethan Finlay is your midfield man vs. NYR, and Octavio Rivero (VAN, $9.2) has broken free of his slump with a goal, two assists, and at least 6 points in his last three matches, so use him @ COL.
