For the second consecutive week, #USMNT is a scoring leader of the round, with a total of 79 points. Clint Dempsey (SEA, $10.2) was the captain, and he scored two goals and assisted an own goal on the way to 28 points. Kyle Beckerman (RSL, $9.9) followed with a goal and 10 points, while Maurice Edu (PHI, $9.1) contributed a goal and 9 points. Meanwhile, joining #USMNT with 79 points is Arden Wanderers, who also captained Dempsey, and got 13 points from Bobby Boswell (DCU, $7.9), and 8 from Federico Higuain (CLB, $10.9). Zusi'n me Wynne'n still leads overall. [BlasianSays edit: I initially neglected to notice Arden Wanderers as a co-leader]
Positional Leaders
Goalkeepers
Andrew Dykstra.
Andrew. Dykstra.
Andrew Dykstra (DCU, $4.0) led all goalkeepers with 10 points, buoyed by a clean sheet. Colorado's Clint Irwin ($4.8) earned his own clean sheet and 9 points, and Zac MacMath (PHI, $5.2) and Jaime Penedo (LA, $5.8) both scored 8 points, Penedo with a clean sheet, and MacMath saving a penalty for the second consecutive week.
Defenders
Bobby Boswell -- yes, that Bobby Boswell (DCU, $7.9) -- earned a clean sheet and added an assist to lead all defenders with 13 points. Anthony Soares (NE, $8.4) contributed his own assist and clean sheet for 12 points, while the pair of Omar Gonzalez (LA, $9.9) and Kevin Alston (NE, $5.8) scored 11 apiece, both with clean sheets and Alston with a goal. For DCU, Jeff Parke ($6.7) scored 8 points, and Christian Fernandez ($6.4) and Sean Franklin ($7.7) each scored 6 points.
Midfielders
The aforementioned Dempsey, overall leading scorer, and Beckerman were 1 and 2 among midfielders, and a trio of players tied for third with 9 points: Edu, Shea Salinas (SJ, $7.7), and Stefan Ishizaki ($6.8). Salinas and Ishizaki each tallied an assist. United midfielders were led by match winner Davy Arnaud ($6.9) with 8 points, while each of Chris Rolfe ($6.9), Nick DeLeon ($6.8) and Perry Kitchen ($6.4) added 3, and Jared Jeffrey ($6.9) and Alex Caskey ($5.8) each appeared for 1 point.
Forwards
Three forwards tied for first with 8 points: Erick Torres (CHV, $8.6), David Texeira (DAL, $7.9), and Federico Higuain (CLB, $10.9), each of them scoring a goal. For United, Fabian Espindola ($8.1) scored 7 points, Eddie Johnson ($9.6) scored 3, and Conor Doyle ($6.3) showed up for 1.
Looking Ahead
No teams are on bye, and Philadelphia plays twice this week -- their first match is Wednesday night, so get your changes done early. Obviously there is value in Philadelphia players, especially midfielders Sebastien Le Toux ($8.7, 29 points), Maurice Edu ($9.1, 33 points), and the cheap and inconsistent Leonardo Fernandes ($5.3, 26 points). I wouldn't buy into defenders or goalkeeper because they're playing New York away and Houston at home. Otherwise, I like Chris Seitz (DAL, $5.4, 34 points) at home against Defoe-less Toronto this week, and I'd throw Drew Moor (COL, $7.0, 26 points) in at home against San Jose. At forward, Chicago's Quincy Amarikwa ($6.4, 33 points) is inexpensive and has three straight 7-point games. He's at home against New England.
Everyone's Adding: G - MacMath (32 points, +780), D - Michel (DAL, $7.7, 32 points, +370), M - Dempsey (44 points, +1158), F - Amarikwa (+831)
Everyone's Dropping: G - Nick Rimando (RSL, $6.2, 31 points, -348), D - Kellyn Acosta (DAL, $5.7, 18 points, -302), M - Michael Bradley (TOR, $10.1, 27 points, -392), F - Vicente Sanchez (COL, $7.9, 29 points, -562)
