D.C. United is tied for the third-worst odds, at 25/1, to win the 2017 MLS Cup, according to a recently published list by the oddsmakers at Bovada. The Philadelphia Union, New England Revolution, and San Jose Earthquakes come in at 33/1, and the poor Chicago Fire bring up the rear at a whopping 100/1. Also at 25/1 are the Houston Dynamo, Orlando City SC, and Columbus Crew SC.
At the top of the list, you have as always the biggest names and spenders in MLS: LA Galaxy, New York Red Bulls, NYCFC, and Seattle.

Now, it is obvious that oddsmakers place their lines to get equal money on both sides, and that typically undervalues less sexy teams like D.C. United. The fact that the team has the same odds as three who didn’t make the playoffs means that they are undervalued. That rings especially true when they are placed equal with the Dynamo, who looked just dire down the stretch last year.
The best value on this list (though I do not condone betting nor do I bet myself), would be Toronto FC at 11/1 and FC Dallas at 12/1. What do you all think about this ridiculously early list? Agree that D.C. United is undervalued?
