D.C. United shave their heads for St. Baldrick's Day

We were there. We took video.

D.C. United has a two-fold mission statement: Win championships, and serve the community. The subject of this post falls squarely in pursuit of the second of those. The St. Baldrick's Foundation - also known as "those crazy head-shaving people - is a charity that raises money in support of promising research into childhood cancers. This year, the foundation set up its annual head-shaving/fundraising event at Boundary Stone Public House in Bloomingdale. Ben Olsen was scheduled to appear as a guest barber, Perry Kitchen would be his willing victim, and Conor Doyle would be manning the tap as a guest bartender.

So I showed up with my fancy video-shooting phone, and I got much more than I bargained for. Sure, Olsen shaved Kitchen's head, but then it started getting out of hand. By the end of the afternoon, Kitchen, Olsen, Kofi Opare and Bobby Boswell had all shed some hair for the cause, and Sean Franklin had taken a turn as barber.

So check out the video above, and go see the team's write-up of the event, which easily surpassed its fundraising goal for the day. Let us know in the comments who you'd like to see shave their head for charity next year.
