Richmond went down by two goals early in the game before rallying back in the second half to earn the point on the road.

The first Wilmington goal came in the ninth minute, off a set piece. Troy Cole was able to escape his marker and lay an clear header into the back off the net off of Ross Tomaselli's service. Eight minutes later, the second goal came. It was also a defensive breakdown, with Stephen Basso and Jalen Robinson not switching marks and George Davis IV not continuing his run; Justin Moose got a free run into the box and was able to hammer the cross home. In the 27th minute the Hammerheads were one and one with goalkeeper Ryan Taylor, but he was able to get down and make the save.

Luke Mishu took a long throw-in that made it to the six yard box, where Matthew Delicate's flick-on was blocked. However, the ball fell right to the feet of Jalen Robinson, who smashed it through traffic and into the net. Richmond was able to tie the game up off of a diving Matthew Delicate header, who found the rebound off the crossbar to level the game. Richmond had the better of the chances in the second half, including Luke Mishu getting forward into the attack, but were unable to find a winner.

The Kickers have their home opener next weekend when they welcome Louisville City FC to City Stadium.
