The Richmond Kickers welcome the Harrisburg City Islanders to town this evening, with the winner securing their spot in the USL PRO Championship game. The Kickers got here by beating their old rivals, the Charleston Battery, 2-1 after extra time last week. The City Islanders pulled off the only upset of the first round, sending Orlando City SC packing not just out of the playoffs, but out of the league. The Kickers weren't expecting to be able to host another playoff game, so expect the stadium to be rocking tonight.
Time: 7:00 PM EDT
Venue: City Stadium, Richmond, Va.
Streaming: As always, you can find all USL PRO games available on YouTube.
D.C. United players in attendance: It looks like it will only be Conor Shanosky and Kyle Porter, with Collin Martin tweeting that he was with D.C. United in Chicago this weekend. It is a bit of a disappointment for the Kickers, especially with Martin scoring his first professional goal last weekend.
Richmond Kickers starting XI: I think that Leigh Cowlishaw will start a little conservatively, leaving Matthew Delicate on the bench in favor of Jason Yeisley. However, expect Delicate to get plenty of time in hopes of possibly starting in the championship game should Richmond make it. Behind Yeisley will be the attacking midfield of Shay Spitz, George Davis IV, and Kyle Porter
and the defensive midfield of Luke Vercollone and Samuel Asante. The back line will be Alex Lee, Conor Shanosky, William Yomby, and Sascha Goerres, with Ryan Taylor in goal
Prediction: The Kickers have beaten the City Islanders three times this season already, and I think that tonight makes a fourth. 2-1 to the men in red, securing a cross country flight to face the winner of LA Galaxy II-Sacramento Republic for all of the marbles.
As always, this is your place for pre-game, in-game, and post-game chatter.
