The USL PRO playoffs are here, and the Richmond Kickers have some work to do. After spending most of the year in second place, the Kickers fell to fourth in the waning moments of the season. That sets up a battle against their old rival, who are also one of D.C. United's biggest lower division rivals: The Charleston Battery. Despite their slide, the Kickers are still dangerous and are getting back some players from D.C. United and from injury. With no D.C. United game on tonight, why not watch United players play in the playoffs?
Kickoff time: 7:00 PM EDT
Venue: City Stadium, Richmond, Va.
Streaming: As always, you can take to YouTube to watch the Kickers take on those whose coffee pots are too fragile.
D.C. United players in attendance: Conor Shanosky and Collin Martin appeared in the photographs from training yesterday, so I think they would be the only two to make the trip. I would love to see Michael Seaton, but my gut tells me that he is being saved for Tuesday.
Richmond Kickers starting XI: Richmond will start with Ryan Taylor in goal, and Taylor has really grown since Joe Willis went back to D.C. Stephen Basso, William Yomby, Conor Shanosky, and Sascha Goerres will start in defense, with Luke Vercollone and Samuel Asante in front of them in defensive midfield. Shay Spitz, George Davis IV, and Jason Yeisley will start in attacking midfield, and Matthew Delicate will come back to start as the lone forward.
Prediction: Despite their slide, I think that the Kickers get it done at home against the Battery. 2-1 to the men in red.
What are you drinking? Got to be something from RVA, right? I think Triple Crossing's Street Cred is the way to go.
