The Richmond Kickers announced today that they will host the Mexican Olympic soccer team in a friendly to be played on July 1 at City Stadium in Richmond. The team will consist of current U-21 players, primarily from Chivas De Guadalajara, Club America, and Toluca, and will be the starting point for the team that goes to the Rio Olympics in two years.

"Our previous Mexico match-up produced an electric crowd that was one, if not the best, fan atmospheres we have ever experienced at City Stadium,” commented Leigh Cowlishaw, Richmond Kickers Director of Soccer. “This is another fantastic opportunity for our fans and players to sample the energy, passion and authentic soccer atmosphere this Word Cup style event will bring to RVA.”

This game marks the third big matchup for the Kickers in Richmond this summer, which also includes the friendly against Crystal Palace and the US Open Cup match against the New England Revolution. Anyone going to make the trip to Richmond to see the Mexican Olympic team play?
