Richmond Kickers versus RVA FC: US Open Cup/Richmond Derby streaming, prediction, lineups, and gamethread

The first-ever Richmond Derby comes to us courtesy of the US Open Cup.

The first-ever Richmond, Virginia Derby is inaugurated tonight, with the Richmond Kickers traveling a little over two miles to take on RVA FC in the second round of the US Open Cup. For those who don't know, RVA FC plays in the NPSL and the won that league's national championship last year, which was their first season. Their head coach (and owner) is Grover Gibson, a Virginia native who played professional soccer in the second and third tiers of the German pyramid before retiring in 2009.

Time: 7:00 PM EDT

Venue: Sports Backers Stadium, Richmond, Virginia.

Streaming: This game has been chosen as US Soccer's game of the round, so streaming will be available from their website and from their channel on YouTube. I will update this post with the embed just as soon as it is available.

D.C. United players in attendance: Currently unknown. Last year, United allowed Andrew Dysktra and Michael Seaton play for the Kickers in Open Cup play, which almost backfired on them during penalties. The Kickers are being more tightlipped about attendance for this game, with no training photographs released this week.

Projected starting XI: I think that D.C. United will let the Kickers have a couple of players, especially ones who are even more buried on United's roster. Therefore, I think that Joe Willis will get the start in goal, with Alex Lee, Conor Shanosky, William Yomby, and Sascha Goerres in front of him. Mike Callahan and Samuel Asante will start in defensive midfield, with Jason Yeisley, George Davis IV, and Luke Vercollone in front of them. Matthew Delicate will start up top.

Prediction: RVA FC is definitely pumped for this game, and the Kickers have three games in five days coming up. However, I still think the Kickers pull this one out, winning 2-1 in the inaugural Richmond Derby.

What are you drinking? Nothing, since I will be in the press box and it is frowned upon; however, Sports Backers Stadium has a beer garden, so feel free to pick something up if you are at the game! Afterwards, I have to drink something from Richmond: Hardywood, Center of the Universe, or Strangeways are the most likely.

As always, this is your place for pre-game, in-game, and post-game chatter.
