The Richmond Kickers have their home opener this afternoon, taking on the Pittsburgh Riverhounds. The Riverhounds have two players from last year's Kickers team, with both Joseph Ngwenya and Brian Ownby likely to start. It is a beautiful day for soccer in Richmond, and the game starts before the D.C. United game; if you're not tailgating, why not give it a watch?
Time: 5:00 PM EDT
Venue: City Stadium, Richmond, Va.
Streaming: New for 2014, all USL PRO games will be streamed live on YouTube, which means that replay will be available right after the game. Specific for the Richmond Kickers, the city has now put in wired internet access into the stadium, which means it is no longer streamed on a 4G wireless hotspot, and a new company is handling production.
Projected Richmond Kickers Starting XI: Today's lineup should be fairly similar to last week's lineup, but new D.C. United loanees will make the differences. Joe Willis will start in goal, with Alex Lee, William Yomby, Steve Birnbaum, and Henry Kalungi in front of him. Mike Callahan and Luke Vercollone will start in defensive midfield, with George Davis IV, Collin Martin, and Kyle Porter in attacking midfield. Michael Seaton will start as the loan striker.
Prediction: Even with Ownby and Ngwenya, I think that this Richmond team is too strong for the 'Hounds. Also, I can't imagine Joe Willis playing as bad as he did last week to outings in a row. Therefore, give me a 2-1 win for the Kickers, with goals by Michael Seaton and Collin Martin.
What are you drinking? I won't be drinking in the press box, but if I were I would be drinking some Kick It Hunny, which will be available at the stadium today.
As always, this is your place for pre-game, in-game, and post-game chatter.
