Andrew Dykstra wins USL Pro Goalkeeper of the Year; Nate Robinson and Leigh Cowlishaw also winners

D.C. United loanee Andrew Dykstra was recognized as the best goalkeeper in USL Pro this year. His teammate, Nate Robinson, won Rookie of the Year and his coach, Leigh Cowlishaw, won Coach of the Year as well.

As expected, Andrew Dykstra won the USL Pro Goalkeeper of the Year award this afternoon, cementing his place as the best keeper in the league. That is in addition to his wins as the leader in Goals Against Average and being the first team all-league goalkeeper. If you haven't yet seen the video compilation of some of Dykstra's best saves, I highly recommend watching it.

But Dykstra was not the only member of the Kickers' family to win an award. Nate Robinson was named USL Pro Rookie of the Year, an award which was also well deserved. Robinson scored four goals and tallied nine assists, and I was surprised that he was left off both of the all-league teams. And Leigh Cowlishaw won the USL Pro Coach of the Year award for deftly managing the best team in the league while have to deal with the whims of an MLS affiliate in turmoil. These awards help highlight the fact that, even though they lost in the semi-finals, the Richmond Kickers were the best team in USL Pro this year.
