Andrew Dykstra is the USL Pro First Team All-League Goalkeeper

USL Pro announced its all-league teams today, with D.C. United loanee Andrew Dykstra making the first team.

USA TODAY Sports

USL Pro announced its all-league teams today, with the Richmond Kickers leading the way with four selections on the first team. Andrew Dykstra anchors the first team as its goalkeeper, which is no surprise after his performance this year, which included the lowest goals against average in the league. The Kickers also had the best defense in the league largely because of the number of spectacular performances that Dykstra turned in this season. And on the other side of the coin, one of Dykstra's only bad games resulted in them being bounced from the playoffs.

Also making the first team from the Kickers were Joseph Ngwenya, William Yomby, and Henry Kalungi.  Ngwenya and Yomby are both very deserving, but I think that, while Kalungi had a good year, there were a couple of Kickers more deserving of recognition. In particular, I would have liked to see either Luke Vercollone or Brian Ownby get some recognition for how key they both were to the Kickers' success this season. The Kickers will be up for more postseason accolades tomorrow, when the finalists for Coach of the Year, Defender of the Year, Goalkeeper of the Year, Rookie of the Year, and Most Valuable Player will be announced.
