Via a team spokesperson, D.C. United will play Elfsborg on January 29 and Jonkopings Sodra on February 2. The clubs are part of the Allsvenskan in Sweden, their first division, which is home of Malmo FF, where current D.C. player Markus Halsti was a mainstay. As far as these opponents go, Elfsborg is no slouch, finishing 4th last season. Sodra was promoted to the first tier and will begin their first Allsvenskan season this year.
There is a TBA opponent for a game February 5, however, Norway side SK Brann has previously that they would be playing D.C. on that date. D.C. also plays the NASL Tampa Bay Rowdies in Tampa on February 13 before playing Queretaro in the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions League Quarterfinals on February 23.
The preseason for MLS clubs begins on Friday, and it is expected that the team make these dates official later today.
