As part of a hectic first round that saw D.C. United have a second pick in today's draft in a trade with Orlando City, they used their second round pick to select midfielder Paul Clowes from Clemson University. Clowes was born in England and grew up in the Manchester City youth system and reserve team, and was named ACC midfielder of the year. He contributed well in the Combine (which Ben Olsen and Dave Kasper seem to have their picks influenced in to a degree), scoring a goal, but did not feature on any mock drafts that we could immediately find.
D.C. is done for the day; their next pick is in the 4th round, where they have three picks (67th, 74th and 79th overall). The third and fourth rounds will be conducted via conference call, but they appear to be excited with what they have done on this SuperDraft day.
