Rod Dyachenko to go on trial with D.C. United

It is not April Fools or Dia de los Inocentes: according to Steve Goff, Rod Dyachenko is on trial.

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

In hilarious news today, Steve Goff told us of a new trialist that will be coming to D.C. United.

Yes, it is that Rod Dyachenko. He is currently 31, having spent the past six years playing for teams in USL, indoor soccer, USL again, and then three teams in the Thai Premier League. He will be one of the trialists (and there will likely be a slew of them) that will come in throughout training camp. I can't imagine that he would have much of a chance to make the team, but I am sure that stranger things have happened.

Should he be re-signed, this will be the second time that the team has re-acquired Dyachenko, having given up a 2008 first round pick to get him back from Toronto FC after their expansion draft. That pick ended up be Pat Phelan, but the pick immediately after was Roger Espinoza.

Let's have a walk down memory lane, and leave your favorite Rod Dyachenko stories in the comments.
