D.C. United’s Maxim Tissot starts in Canada’s friendly with Scotland

He even played a part in the scoresheet a little.

D.C. United defender Maxim Tissot appeared in his 14th cap for Canada today, in a friendly with Scotland at Hampden Park in Glasgow. Tissot started and played 68 minutes, and even figured into Canada’s goal, which was scored by onetime Vancouver Whitecaps player Fraser Aird:

Steven Naismith (Norwich City) scored the equalizer for the Scots, who used this matchup as preparation for an upcoming World Cup Qualifier with Slovenia. The men’s national team will return home, while the U-23 Canadian squad will play in a tournament in Qatar beginning Saturday.

It is not known whether Tissot would be available for the opening game of the Richmond Kickers’ season Saturday against Harrisburg City, but would presumably be available for their next game April 1 at the New York Red Bulls II club, unless there was a decision to bring Tissot in for the Black-and-Red’s next game, a home affair with the Philadelphia Union.
