D.C. United arrived on Wednesday and trained on Thursday for their game Friday with the Seattle Sounders. Steve Goff reported on Thursday that Chris Pontius, Sean Franklin and Michael Farfan did not make the trip. And Goff's presence in Vancouver makes him a lot closer to Seattle than most of us are.
Then we saw this curious thing, captioned "Cruising Seattle with momma":
This obviously could mean one of several things, but there would seem to be two options. Option one is that he traveled with the team but isn't expecting to play (along with several other players). In the past, Ben Olsen has spoken to the press about players as an option for selection and then gone on to ultimately give them another week to rest, so the inverse could be true here. Maybe he is going to give the team one last speech before letting them going their separate ways for the next few days, since the team has a bye next week.
Or it could mean that Farfan in fact did travel with the team and may be healthy enough to dress for the game, which would be his first since injuring his hamstring against the New England Revolution almost six weeks ago. Bringing Farfan along for any remote consideration of playing time, on turf, after injuring himself on turf, would be interesting.
Or maybe he's just dumping old photos onto social media. Either way, a minor blip to put on the radar.
