Philadelphia Union vs. D.C. United - Highlights

It wasn't pretty, but D.C. United walked out of PPL Park with all three points. Watch the win right here.

D.C. United should have done better, but in the end they did just enough, securing a 1-0 road win over the Philadelphia Union at PPL Park. Sure, Eddie Johnson's disallowed goal might have padded the scoreline, and of course Alex Caskey's blown 1v1 with Zac MacMath (curiously not shown in the highlight package) would have changed things. But ultimately, all United really needed was Chris Rolfe's 6th minute tally.

Well, that and some spectacular work from Bill Hamid, with the occasional assist from Bobby Boswell and the rest of the defense. And some poor finishing from the Zolos - that certainly helped DC's cause, too.

Back to my point, though. The Black-and-Red need to be putting teams like the Union away once they have them reeling. They need to be creating more chances and finishing the ones that they do scrounge up. As has been said in this space many times, they need to sweep the leg. They didn't do that on Saturday, and thankfully it didn't come back to bite them.

But now is not the time to dwell on the negative. We're three points better off than we were before the game, and the fans who made the trip will be coming home happy.
