If D.C. United are playing in some godforsaken field somewhere off I-270 (but it's quite lovely, really), it must be Open Cup season. For the second straight year, D.C. United will host the Philadelphia Union in the fourth round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. Let's hope it goes better than last time.
Time: 7 pm EDT
Venue: Maryland SoccerPlex, Boyds, Md.
Live Streaming: Tony Limarzi will man the microphone, and the live stream will be available at dcunited.com/live just before kickoff.
Projected D.C. Lineup: Be sure to check out Benuski's lineup projection for tonight. For my part, I wonder whether we'll see Thorrington playing on short rest, and unfortunately, Chris Korb will miss out tonight due to the dread yellow card accumulation. I think we'll see a 4-1-4-1 comprising: Bill Hamid; James Riley, Ethan White, Conor Shanosky, Daniel Woolard; Perry Kitchen; Kyle Porter, Nick DeLeon, Dwayne De Rosario, Chris Pontius; Rafael Teixeira de Souza.
Prediction: This competition is all we have left. Let's keep it that way (as depressing as that sentence construction sounds). United to win in extra time, just like the Union did last year.
What Are You Drinking?: It's hot outside. This is gin rickey weather, and I imagine that's what I'll be enjoying tonight come kickoff.
This could very well be the biggest game United have played in 2013. Let's win it. This is your spot for pre-game, in-game and post-game discussion of all things United and USOC.
