Happy September, everyone. Somehow, we’re already in the 9th month of the year, which is just incredible. As this posts, I’m taking off for El Salvador for the first of 3 USMNT World Cup qualifiers. August ended with some fireworks though, so let’s get into it.
A bombshell dropped late last night, as Racing Louisville head coach Christy Holly was fired for cause by the team after reported complaints about a “toxic environment” created by the coach.
Real Madrid upped their bid at the last minute for Kylian Mbappé to €200m, but PSG wanted none of it. Mbappé has said he will leave Paris at the end of the season, presumably to sign with Real. He’ll now do that on a free transfer.
Deadline Day was incredible, and a few Americans were on the move either on loan or transfers.
Another late bombshell as the Icelandic soccer federation’s board resigned after multiple accounts of sexual assault that were covered up by the federation. One prominent player has been removed from the team after being named as the culprit in a report, and more accounts seem to be coming. This really is a bad situation.
Look who’s #10! It’s D.C. United!
Also, D.C. United, like the rest of MLS, are wearing special pre-match tops for September, which is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. What do you think?
World Cup qualifying is here, and the USMNT is ready to assert themselves. Weston McKennie, Tyler Adams, and the rest of the squad want to hold their current titles as Kings of Concacaf. We ready!
Real Madrid signs Eduardo Camavinga after they couldn’t land Kylian Mbappé. Basically, Florentino Perez wasn’t going to leave France empty-handed.
Enjoy the day, everyone!
