Junior Moreno, Andy Najar, and DC Cheddar: Freedom Kicks for 26 August 2021

Soccer, go!

Caitlin Buckley / Black and Red United

Good morning!

That’s all I have, let’s just jump straight into it.

Junior Moreno is getting called back into the Venzeuelan national team for World Cup qualifiers, with the September window just around the corner. Congrats, Junior!

Also getting called back into his national team is Andy Najar, who will represent Honduras in the Concacaf World Cup qualifiers. He will be taking on the USMNT on September 8, so good luck to Andy in all games except that one, and, most importantly, no injuries please.

And to wrap up the trio, Edison Flores will be joining Peru! Congrats to all!

After being cancelled two years in a row due to gestures wildly, the US Open Cup is finally back in action, with qualifying at the amateur level starting in mere weeks. There are a number of games involving teams from the DMV, including DC Cheddar taking on Corinto FC at the RFK Stadium Auxiliary Turf Field. So, if you want to see one more game in the shadow of RFK, head over there on September 18 and cheer for, I mean, DC Cheddar.

That’s all I have today. What’s up?
