Good morning! We have an abnormally large batch of pieces coming out today, so this one’s coming in early to make room for multiple Washington Spirit pieces, Fantasy Focus, and possibly more. D.C. United made an off-field move of note, and some other things happened to boot.
Let’s go!
D.C. United Elevate Stewart Mairs to Become the First General Manager of Loudoun United FC | DCUnited.com
Like I said, big news off the field, with United’s front office re-organization now including the club’s technical director Stewart Mairs now adding Loudoun United GM to his business card.
Metro to extend service for sporting events if games run beyond normal closing time starting Tuesday | WUSA 9
An extra half-hour of Metro service on gamenights starting tonight for D.C.’s sports teams, though this piece does not mention whether the Spirit are getting that treatment or not (for the record: they should!). Slow progress towards things being quasi-normal?
Here’s some news that might result in some kind of change in the near future:

It’s completely fair for the city to use a building that it helped pay for, but I will note that United is supposed to play Inter Miami on June 19, the first day cited as a graduation day above.
It’s gameday for the Spirit, and we have an injury report with fewer names than last time:

More on the game in an hour, and then not long after that, even more!
How the NWSL schedule gets made, and the reasons for 2021’s delayed release | The Athletic
We ran a story on this a few years ago, but a lot has changed around the NWSL since then. We’re 19 days away from what’s supposed to be opening day, and we don’t know any match-ups. Meg Linehan explains why that is here.
Scouting Report: What to expect from TFC’s newest designated player Yeferson Soteldo | Waking the Red
Toronto FC went and made a Big Move, signing a high-end Brazilian league starter in Yeferson Soteldo.
Alright then, I think that’s about it for me. However, I’d be remiss to get through this without highlighting a wild celebration from Liga MX Femenil last night:
