Happy Wednesday everyone, our first one in 2021. Yesterday had a bit of news that had us scrolling through Twitter all day, beginning with the reheating of these rumors:

Does today’s rumor mean that Mesut Ozil is coming to D.C. United? - BRU

Short answer: no. Long answer: Absolutely not. Mesut Özil is not coming to D.C. United right now, so don’t believe the latest clickbait rumors.

U.S. Soccer announces USMNT, U-23 January Camp rosters - SSFC

The United States Men’s National Team and the U-23s are having a joint January Camp. Paul Arriola makes the USMNT roster, while former D.C. United products Eryk Williamson and Byrang Kayo make the U-23 roster.

USWNT star Alex Morgan, family test positive for COVID-19 - ESPNFC

Best wishes to Alex Morgan and family, who have tested positive for COVID-19. We hope she’s back on the mend soon, but do not expect her to be on the January Camp roster for the USWNT.

An update on the D.C. United coaching search:

it seems more and more unlikely that we have a coach in place by the MLS Superdraft, but let’s see what happens.

LA Galaxy name Greg Vanney head coach - MLS

Greg Vanney, as expected, moves to the LA Galaxy, returning to the club with which he began his playing career.

MLS proposal won’t cut players’ salaries but wants CBA extension - ESPNFC

MLS doesn’t want to cut salaries, but they want to extend the CBA 2 seasons to make up for the financial losses they had last year and that they expect this year. No word on if the MLSPA will go for that.
