Hi there. Jason did a weekend Kicks so you should be mostly caught up with that. If not, check it out.

Anyway, Saturday night!

I’m not as up in arms about the timeframe as others have been (Atlanta United took more than 125 days before even being linked to now-manager Gabriel Heinze), but if you haven’t come to contractual terms on two different head coach choices, using the ‘making the right choice’ explanation rings a little hollow. If anything, it puts more pressure on making a good choice for an organization that hasn’t had to make any in several years, especially with the 2021 season starting...sometime?

Derby County still haven’t paid some players their December wages (Athletic, $): So in the year and change since Wayne Rooney came in, their manager was sacked (and they’re currently in the relegation zone in the Championship, had a Covid outbreak in the first team that forced them to dress their youth players in the FA Cup (and lose) against sixth division side Chorley FC (whose celebration went justifiably viral), and now this.

North Carolina FC to Join USL League One (USL): This self-relegation if you will should help them reinforce their infrastructure a la the Kickers. Am unsure if their 2020 players are free to seek out other options, but they include former D.C. United draft pick Akeem Ward.

Meanwhile ahead of the NWSL draft this week, it’s top prospect will likely jump overseas:

The Spirit of Neil Peart (Rolling Stone): 1 year since the legendary drummer’s passing, bandmates and others share his last bit of time here.

And with that, it’s yours.
