Hi. I was at the beach and just peripherally watching things for the week. Was fun, strong recommend!
Recaps of D.C. United’s 2-0 loss to the New England Revolution by us and MLS. The Bent Musket with more. Drop a link in if you liked a gamer.
Recaps of the Washington Spirit’s 1-1 draw with the Chicago Red Stars by us. Hot Time in Old Town with more.
With D.C. United struggling, Coach Ben Olsen is sitting on a ‘scalding-hot seat’ (WaPo): D.C. United has had to furlough and lay off staff during the pandemic and the training site a few hundred yards from Segra is (at last personal check) remarkably pristine and not ground broken. Why they’d take on an expense of a couple hundred thousand dollars for 2020 for a coach to not coach seems beyond me, but who knows.
MLS clubs facing conundrum over releasing players for October FIFA dates (Athletic, $): This effects D.C., as Peru has called in Edison Flores and Yordy Reyna to their 30-man roster for World Cup Qualifiers next month, and D.C. (and apparently the Portland Timbers) have raised objections. Ben Olsen was mum on it Sunday night, given that Flores is getting closer to play...somewhere, his roster status for club and country will need to get sorted pronto.
Remaining Loudoun United FC regular season games cancelled (LUFC): The multiple positive cases in the team can’t be good, and given that their season ended this coming Sunday as is, quarantine would have ran past that. Also a fun effect of this is unless someone gets hurt or loaned somewhere, D.C. United still needs an international roster spot, since they apparently planned to loan Erik Sorga down before this. Fun!
Speaking of Loudoun, Peabo Doue (former D.C. Academy player and Loudoun Captain) is, well, you can watch:

Loudoun United forward Elvis Amoh eyes MLS move (Ghana Soccernet): I, uh, OK?
Here’s our Andre Carlisle chatting about NWSL:
Oh, and since Fargo started last night again on FX, here’s the Season 4 trailer. Chris Rock and Jason Schwartzman aside, a lot of good actors in this installment:
Anyway that’s all I have. God, it’s going to suck to work today, as I cannot work at the beach, as we all should do.
