An unexpected two-headed monster

MLS: Portland Timbers at San Jose Earthquakes Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

Another round, another leader who picked 11 actual players! Audacious Audi set the pace with 111 points.

Bayern Neverlusen still sits atop the league, but the lead is down to just two points.

Positional Leaders

Five players clocked in at a position-leading 9 points this round. Dayne St. Clair (MIN, $7.5) saved a penalty, while the rest had clean sheets: Sean Johnson (NY, $10.9), William Yarbrough (COL, $6.7), Eloy Room (CLB, $10.0), and Matt Turner (NE, $8.1). DCU’s Bill Hamid ($6.2) scored 2 points.

A Rapids duo led the defenders, with Sam Vines ($6.0) setting the pace with a clean sheet and an assist for 12 points, followed closely by teammate Keegan Rosenberry ($7.3), and Yeimar Gomez-Andrade (SEA, $9.3), who both had a clean sheet and 11 points. For United, Frederic Brillant ($8.7) led with 4 points, while Chris Odoi-Atsem ($4.0) scored 2, and both Donovan Pines ($7.7) and Joseph Mora ($4.0) scored 1.

Two players scored 19 points to lead the position and all scorers. Diego Valeri (POR, $12.4) added an assist to his two goals, while Santiago Mosquera (DAL, $6.0) had a hat trick. Nani (ORL, $8.5) rounded out the top three with a goal, an assist, and 13 points. The D.C. midfield was led by Junior Moreno ($9.5) with 7 points, followed by Julian Gressel ($8.1) with 5, Yamil Asad ($4.2) with 3, Mohammed Abu ($6.5) with 2, and the trio of Yordy Reyna ($4.2), Federico Higuain ($4.0), and Moses Nyeman ($4.0) with 1 each.

The forwards were led by Fredy Montero (VAN, $5.0) with 18 points on the strength of two goals and an assist. Behind him were Kacper Przybyłko (PHI, $12.0) with a brace and 13 points, and Franco Jara (DAL, $9.8) with 12 points on a brace of his own. The DCU forwards were led by Ola Kamara ($5.9) with 7 points, trailed by Griffin Yow ($4.0) with 6, Gelmin Rivas ($4.4) with 2, and Erik Sorga ($4.3) with 1.

Looking Ahead

It looks like everyone is playing twice this week! I’m saving some money at goalkeeper with Dayne St. Clair @Columbus and vs. RSL. In defense, I like Maynor Figueroa (HOU, $9.2) @Chicago and @Nashville, and in the midfield I like Chris Mueller (ORL, $9.7) as a budget-ish option, with four goals and five assists over nine appearances this season. At forward, I like Kacper Przybyłko’s match-ups, @Cincinnati and vs.Miami.
