MLS: Sporting Kansas City at D.C. United Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning friends. With time meaning nothing these days, I’ve been clinging to some small comfort of shows that I’ve watched before. Currently, I going back and doing a re-watch of Battlestar Galactica, one of my favorite shows of all time, and the comfort of the rhythms and knowing what happens like a warm blanket. I’m loving Lovecraft Country and The Vow as well, but there’s something to be said for already knowing how you’ll feel watching a show. Are y’all watching anything old (or new) right now?

To the links:

Why are MLS clubs getting paid for U.S. talent going to Europe, but not the youth teams that played a part in their development?

In this piece, there’s a nugget that D.C. United was technically not eligible for solidarity payments on the transfer of Chris Durkin, because MLS does not allow teams whose academies aren’t free to do so. Now, $55,000 is likely less than what they get in fees each year by a substantial margin, but its still annoying that United is one of two teams in the league (the other being Minnesota) that still charge.

Years ago, I asked how many academy members got scholarships, and was told that anyone who has needs has their needs met, but that at least requires a weighty conversation. But it won’t be changing anytime soon.

I don’t like this one bit. Yes, Sorga needs playing time, but he’s earned some playing time with D.C. United.

Sources: Houston Dynamo investigating rebrand as owner Brener considers sale – The Athletic

The Dynamo brand is a nothingburger, but I hope they keep orange as their primary color. It is unique in a league whose jerseys are often white, grey, or black.

McDonald has very important things to say as we push for justice in this country.

I believe Filibuster has discovery rights over all foxes in MLS, thank you very much.

That’s all I have today; what’s up?
