D.C. United announced today that their first match of the MLS is Back Tournament, originally scheduled for Friday against Toronto FC, has been rescheduled to Sunday. The team and the league later confirmed that the game is scheduled for 9 AM:
D.C. United’s first game getting delayed seemed more and more likely this week, as Toronto FC continued to delay their arrival in the Orlando bubble. They had a player experiencing symptoms similar to Covid-19, and delays in getting testing results back made them reschedule their flights twice. In the end, they only flew out to Florida yesterday, and so safety and testing concerns mean that Friday’s game could not go on as scheduled.
All of this comes after FC Dallas was removed from the tournament, and Nashville SC had their game postponed due to a surge in cases among members of that team as well. We will continue to keep you up to date as we learn more about the MLS is Back Tournament.
