Let’s get right to the most important thing I’m gonna say here: D.C. United legend (like, build a statue out front legend) Jaime Moreno needs our help:

I know money is tight for so many of us, but if you have any to spare, please help out one of the most important people in United history.

Sources: Sam Mewis joining Manchester City, Rose Lavelle considering offer | The Athletic
With NWSL’s plans for the rest of 2020 uncertain at this point, it is possible that European clubs come in with enticing one-year deals for USWNT stars, and that’s apparently the case here for Rose Lavelle and Sam Mewis. While every instance I’ve had to talk to Lavelle or anyone at the Washington Spirit points to her being very happy to play here, the fact is that if she opts to sign with Man City, there is at least a chance she doesn’t come back...which would be really bad news.

MLS Disciplinary Committee suspends DC United’s Felipe one game for serious foul play | MLSsoccer.com
In not entirely surprising news, Felipe’s tackle on Victor Wanyama has resulted in a one-game suspension whenever MLS tries to have more soccer.

Here’s a Spanish-language interview United did with Federico Higuain, who for all we know could be a starter if/when the Black-and-Red are back on the field.

It took quite a while for the W-League to announce their awards, but Spirit goalkeeper was named co-Goalkeeper of the Year:

Between loans to Australia and play for the Spirit, it’s the third straight GKOTY award for Bledsoe, who won the same award in the 2019 NWSL and the 2018-2019 W-League as well.

The latest episode of The Cooligans includes Spirit attacker Ashley Sanchez as their main guest:

The ballad of Charlie Lyon, MLS’s pool goalkeeper in the bubble | The Athletic
I loved this story about MLS pool GK Charlie Lyon, who was training to become a logger when he ended up getting a call to take up the pool GK role in Orlando.

MLS is Back finished up its group stage late last night with a draw between LAFC and Portland, so here’s the knockout round:

Given how bizarre things have been, and how many bad teams got through, I guess we’re gonna see the Vancouver Whitecaps face down, I don’t know, Real Salt Lake in the final. Why not?

Let’s finish up with the Whitecaps, who may have eliminated the Chicago Fire from MLS is Back with soccer, but I’d argue also eliminated them with this tweet:

Tough break Chicago. Hit the showers, think on your sins, and try again next year.

And on that note, we’re done. Stay cool today, it’s too damn hot out.
