D.C. United kicks off their 2020 season in just two days! After an offseason that has felt like the longest one in years (because it was), we are about to get our weekly doses of soccer back in our lives. I don’t know about you, but I need this regularity back in my life.

Sources: D.C. United reaches agreement with Federico Higuain for player-coach role – The Athletic

I like this! Higuain is one of MLS’s great players of the last decade, and if he can provide a bit of that spark off of the bench and in spot starts, he’ll be a great addition to the team. And, at that price point, there’s really no risk to the signing.

Getting him as an assistant coach as well reminds me of when the team hired Josh Wolff as an assistant; Wolff is now preparing Austin FC for their 2021 debut, so let’s hope that Higuain can follow a similar tack.

DC’s local Telemundo affiliate talks with Ulises Segura and Joseph Mora ahead of the season kicking off.

Paige Nielsen was ready to quit. Now, she’s integral to the Spirit’s rebuild – Equalizer Soccer

Paige Nielsen told Richie Burke to give her a chance at CB. He did, and now she’s key to the Washington Spirit’s back line.

USWNT 2020 SheBelieves Cup camp roster includes Washington Spirit trio - Black And Red United

The final roster has come out, with Rose Lavelle and Andi Sullivan making the final 23 and with Jordan DiBiasi missing the cut. DiBiasi wasn’t really expected to make the final roster, and getting called into camp is great and will hopefully spark another great year for her.

I just don’t know.

“It’s an arms race”: Why more and more MLS teams are breaking transfer records |

If you want to keep up in MLS this year, you need to start opening up the wallets. The tactics that saved D.C. United in their last years at RFK Stadium will no longer keep you in contention.

5 young MLS stars who could be playing for the USMNT very soon -

I still find it hard to get excited about the USMNT, but revitalizing it with a new generation of players could help turn the page.

Do you need a keeper scoring a header in the 94th minute? Yes, you do.
