Yamil Asad, Carli Lloyd, and Christine Sinclair: Freedom Kicks for 30 January 2020

Soccer, go!

MLS: New York City FC at D.C. United Amber Searls-USA TODAY Sports

Hello, good morning! My three year-old has learned how to flip her coat over her head to put it on, almost like how Martin Sheen does it on The West Wing. It is always nice to put a little dramatic in each of our lives.

There are also two days left into the close of the transfer window, so if anything is going to happen, its going to happen soon.

Good interview with Yamil Asad as he looks to get back on the field after leaving D.C. United and then coming back. With competition all over the field, Asad will be pushed hard, and hopefully it will just make everyone better.

Signing a bunch of good players gets you on lists like this!

Speaking of the transfer window, another center back would be very nice. Steven Birnbaum is a rock, but Frederic Brillant will fall off at some point and we don’t know if Donovan Pines is ready to anchor a team with MLS Cup as its goal. More good players is always good.

What the heck is the USWNT supposed to do with Carli Lloyd? - SBNation.com

Carli Lloyd often doesn’t fit what the USWNT wants to do, but also Carli Lloyd is a very good soccer player who takes it as a personal affront when she isn’t playing.

It has been over 18 months since Rossi played a game, and at 33 with a history of serious injuries I don’t know if he’s still a good signing for an MLS team. I wish him well though, since he got a ton of flak from US fans for almost a decade.
