The United States were hanging onto a narrow 1-0 lead against a difficult Netherlands side, but Rose Lavelle of the Washington Spirit had just about enough of the tension. Receiving a pass near midfield from Sam Mewis, Lavelle stormed forward from midfield before firing a low shot past Sari van Veenendaal to give the USWNT a 2-0 lead.
BEHOLD!
ROSE. LAVELLE.

Lavelle, who once again plays for the Washington Spirit, your local NWSL club, had so much to do here. In a game that was very rarely open, this was one of the few moments where the Dutch were a bit disconnected between the defense and midfield, and in classic ruthless USWNT fashion, Lavelle pounced. Poor Stefanie van der Gragt had no chance, getting spun around before Lavelle set up her left foot to put the game away.
