All eyes are on the World Cup final, but we have an appetizer in the form of England and Sweden facing off in today’s third place game. For England, it’s the second straight World Cup where they’ve ended up here, and they might take special care to try and set potential Golden Boot winner Ellen White up for some goals (on 6 goals, she’s tied for the lead with Alex Morgan). Sweden, meanwhile, won the third place game in 2011, are hear after losing a grueling semifinal and may have to rotate heavily just to get through the game.

However, we’ve seen fresh legs benefit teams in this game in past World Cups on both the women’s and men’s side, and it could be a difference maker against a Three Lionesses side that will probably be strong favorites to win today.

What are you drinking?: I was woken up by some kind of varmint attacking my trash cans in the middle of the night, so I’m gonna need two rounds of iced coffee while I contemplate whether to take a nap after the game or not.
