Respect.
Demonbarber19 is still the overall leader by a margin of 15 points.
Positional Leaders
Goalkeepers
Steve Clark (POR, $7.1) posted a clean sheet, leading the goalkeepers with 11 points. Behind him was a quintet of players who all kept clean sheets on the way to 9 points: Evan Bush (MTL, 5.2), Vito Mannone (MIN, $7.0), Jesse Gonzalez (DAL, $7.1), Maxime Crepeau (VAN, $6.1), and Stefan Frei (SEA, $6.7). For DCU, Bill Hamid ($6.6) scored 8 points.
Defenders
Portland’s Jorge Villafaña ($7.5) posted a clean sheet and two assists, leading all defenders and all players with 18 points, which is more than his two other highest scoring games this season combined. He was followed by his teammate, Jorge Moreira ($7.9) with an assist, a clean sheet, and 14 points, and Montreal’s Zachary Brault-Guillard ($5.0) with 12 points on a clean sheet and an assist. The D.C. defense was led by Frederic Brillant ($7.0) with 11 points, followed by Donovan Pines ($5.5) with 8 points, the duo of Leonardo Jara ($7.6) and Steven Birnbaum ($6.4) with 7 points, and Joseph Mora ($5.4) with 1 point.
Midfielders
Cristhian Paredes ($6.0) kept the Portland train running, leading the midfielders with 17 points on two goals. Alexander Ring (NY, $8.0) was close behind with 16 points on two assists and a goal, followed by Pedro Santos (CLB, $8.6) with two goals and 15 points. United’s midfield featured the quartet of Lucas Rodriguez ($7.8), Junior Moreno ($6.1), Russell Canouse ($6.3) and Luciano Acosta ($8.4) with 4 points each, followed by Paul Arriola ($8.5) with 3, and both Chris Durkin ($5.3) and Ulises Segura ($4.1) with 1.
Forwards
Carlos Vela (LA, $13.0) paired a goal with an assist on the way to 15 points, leading all forwards, followed by Orji Okwonkwo (MTL, $6.7) with two goals and 12 points. Adama Diomande (LA, $9.5) rounded out the top three with 11 points on a goal and an assist. Wayne Rooney ($10.8) was the only D.C. forward to score, with 2 points.
Looking Ahead
Everyone plays once this round. I’ll probably regret rolling with Evan Bush in goal at Colorado, but that’s the plan for now. In defense, I like Florian Jungwirth (SJ, $7.0) at home against Columbus, and in the midfield I like his teammate, Vako ($8.7), with one goal in each of the last three matches. Josef Martinez (ATL, $12.9) is getting my armband at forward at home against the Galaxy.
