Hey all, and happy Thursday. After 23 hours of flying, I returned home to DC at 1:00am yesterday morning only to find out I had a ticket to the USWNT parade in New York. 3 hours later, I was on a train to NYC, where I was able to witness the World Cup champions welcomed home. Thus, I needed sleep and this comes super early on Thursday morning. Thanks to Ben for covering me yesterday.
The United States Women’s National Team kept the party going yesterday with a ticker tape parade and ceremony in New York City, then flying to LA to win the ESPY for Best Team. Because duh, they are the best team, and I love them all.
CONCACAF basically just created a Hex for the top 6 teams in the region and everyone else has to fight for the opportunity to play for the inter-confederation playoff. Good news for the USMNT, Mexico, and Costa Rica, but bad news for those teams that are ranked 7th or lower in the region.
Rose Lavelle had an amazing World Cup and deservedly won the Bronze Ball. The Washington Spirit recaps her amazing tournament.
D.C. United’s Donovan Pines will be on the Homegrown Game roster as the team will face Chivas de Guadelajara U-20s.
Josh Sargent has apparently not taken the exclusion from the Gold Cup roster personally and has come back to Werder Bremen in excellent shape. Hopefully, this will lead to more opportunities to shine with the club this season.
That’s it for today. You know the drill...hit the comments and discuss anything else that happened yesterday, like U.S. Open Cup results.
