Positional Leaders
Goalkeepers
Brad Guzan (ATL, $8.3) posted two clean sheets on the way to 18 points, leading the position and edging out David Ousted (CHI, $6.8), who did the same for 16 points. Tyler Miller (LA, $7.4) scored 9 points on a clean sheet, and so did D.C.’s Bill Hamid ($7.8).
Defenders
Chicago’s Francisco Calvo’s ($5.8) two clean sheets helped take him to 20 points, leading all defenders. Leandro Gonzalez Pirez (ATL, $8.7) did the same for 19 points, and the Chicago pair of Jorge Corrales ($4.9), with two clean sheets, and Johan Kappelhof ($6.4), with two clean sheets and an assist, scored 18 points each. The United defense was led by Steven Birnbaum ($8.7) with 9 points, followed by the trio of Leonardo Jara ($8.0), Frederic Brillant ($7.6), and Marquinhos Pedroso ($4.9), who scored 7 points each.
Midfielders
Chicago midfielders dominated this week, as Nico Gaitan (CHI, $8.5) put up two goals and two assists on the way to 26 points, leading all midfielders and all players, and somehow going down in price $0.5. Behind him, teammate Aleksandar Katai ($9.0) totaled a goal and two assists for 22 points, and yet another teammate, Przemyslaw Frankowski ($7.4) scored 18 points on the strength of a goal and an assist. The DCU midfield featured Paul Arriola ($8.4) with 9 points, Russell Canouse ($6.6) with 6, Junior Moreno ($8.0) with 5, Luciano Acosta ($9.8) with 4, Lucas Rodriguez ($7.7) with 3, and the pair of Chris Durkin ($5.4) and Ulises Segura ($4.0) with 1.
Forwards
Nemanja Nikolic ($7.8) continued the general Chicago dominance, leading the forwards with 18 points on two goals. On his tail was Maxi Urruti (MTL, $6.5), with a goal, two assists, and 17 points. Hector Villalba (ATL, $7.9) rounded out the top three with a goal, an assist, and 16 points. Wayne Rooney ($10.7) was the only scoring United forward, with 8 points.
Looking Ahead
You get two games! And you get two games! A bunch of teams play twice this round: Seattle, Atlanta, Toronto, LA, Vancouver, Dallas, Houston, Orlando and DCU. In goal, I like Stefan Frei (SEA, $7.4) at home against Orlando and at Philadelphia. In defense, I’m sticking with Mikey Robinson (ATL, $8.3) at Vancouver and vs. the Red Bulls. Alejandro Pozuelo (TOR, $13.3) is your midfield man vs. DCU and at RSL, and you’ve got to get Carlos Vela (LA, $14.4) back in at forward with games at home and away to Dallas.
