Demonbarber19 led this round with 96 points.
I usually need to have a good reason to start two defenders from the same team. As it turns out, playing at home against New England is a good reason. Make Amarikwa Great Again is still the overall leader, with a four-point gap to a three-way tie for second.
Positional Leaders
Goalkeepers
David Bingham (LAG, $5.5) pulled off the impressive feat of posting a clean sheet and a saved penalty on the way to 14 points, leading all goalkeepers. Behind him was a logjam of 9-point players, with Stefan Frei (SEA, $8.0), Tyler Miller (LA, $6.5), and Evan Bush (MTL, $5.6) keeping a clean sheet to get there, while Jimmy Maurer (DAL, $5.0) saved a penalty. D.C.’s Bill Hamid ($8.2) scored 7 points.
Defenders
A trio of players led the position with 15 points, as Shea Salinas (SJ, $4.4), Daniel Steres (LAG, $6.1), and Josh Williams (CLB, $5.5) each tallying a goal and a clean sheet. For United, Steven Birnbaum ($8.5) with 2 points, and Leonardo Jara ($8.1) with 1 were the only scorers.
Midfielders
Orlando’s Nani ($9.3) led the midfielders with 15 points on two goals and an assist. Behind him, Cole Bassett (COL, $5.4) got to 11 points on a goal and an assist, and Cristian Casseres, Jr. (NYR, $6.5) got there by scoring a goal. DCU’s midfield was led by Paul Arriola ($8.8) with 4 points, followed by the pair of Luciano Acosta ($10.5) and Russell Canouse ($7.4) with 3, Junior Moreno ($8.2) with 2, and the trio of Lucas Rodriguez ($9.0), Ulises Segura ($5.2), and Chris Durkin ($4.9) with 1.
Forwards
Diego Rossi (LA, $10.0) scored a hat trick on the way to 19 points, leading all forwards and all players. Meanwhile, Cristian Espinoza (SJ, $9.2) scored a goal and an assist on the way to 15 points, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic (LAG, $12.2) did the same for 13 points. D.C.’s Wayne Rooney ($11.5) scored 2 points and left early, while Quincy Amarikwa ($5.7) made his debut with 1 point.
Looking Ahead
Four teams play twice this week: DCU, Montreal, Colorado, and Seattle. Everyone else plays once and games start tonight. Click that DOUBLE GAME WEEK button! Stefan Frei (SEA, $8.0) is at Colorado and at home for Toronto, so play him in goal, and pair him with Kelvin Leerdam (SEA, $7.5) in defense. Saphir Taider (MTL, $11.6) is a good shout in midfield at DCU and at home against Columbus, and you’re crazy to drop Carlos Vela (LA, $13.3) at home against Cincinnati.
