DC wins, Lucho still talks to PSG & more: Freedom Kicks for 4/1/2019

The links are probably totally authentic.

Well that was fun, let’s have less of those and more actual fun, shall we?

Recaps of D.C. United’s nail biting 2-1 win over Orlando City SC from us, MLS, WaPo and Flo. The Mane Land has the other side of it.

Griffin Yow doesn’t have a driver’s license, but he has a D.C. United contract (WaPo): Steve Goff chats with new D.C. homegrown player Griffin Yow.

DCU duo enjoy stints with U.S. U23, U20 MNT (TDS): Travis Clark chats with slightly less recent homegrown players Donovan Pines and Chris Durkin.

Loudoun United gut out 0-0 draw with East-leading Rowdies (us): Loudoun had 3 guys making their USL debuts, including a guy making his pro debut, and their goalkeeper played his first minutes with the team. Against the best in the East in their house and got a point? Take that result.

Spirit can’t solve UNC in 0-0 preseason draw (us): Jason got to Leesburg after missing the Loudoun stadium groundbreaking to catch the Spirit look not bad. 3 pro teams in action, 3 gamers, dive in!

PSG and Luciano Acosta still in touch (PSG World Nation): Again, get used to these, they aren’t going away until he goes.

Finally, thanks to director (and Silver Spring native) Rian Johnson of The Last Jedi and Looper fame, he mentioned a film called “Thunder Road” that I checked out on a whim. The story centers on a policeman who loses his mother and his wife divorces him and looks for full custody of their daughter. Jim Cummings plays the cop and he wrote and directed the feature, as he did the short that it originates from. It doesn’t use the Springsteen song per se but it’s an emotional payoff in the moments it does.

Look, I’m the Dad of a toddler, I didn’t watch comic book films much when I wasn’t. Trailer away:
