FloSport’s geofence for D.C. United games

Some of it is our best guess

MLS: Vancouver Whitecaps at D.C. United Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Updated 3.26.2019: We now have an updated and exact map available.

With the first game on FloFC in the books, there were some notable problems with the stream. Personally, I had errors throughout the game, so hopefully they are worked out before the next game on the platform, which is against Real Salt Lake this coming Saturday.

One thing we do know now, however, is the general boundaries of the geofence within which you must use FloFC to watch a game live; outside of these boundries, you can use ESPN+ to watch D.C. United games live.

Most of the geofence follows state boundaries, county boundaries, or bodies of water that make interpreting the official (low-res) map fairly accurately. The reddish line starting near Scottsville, Virginia, and running through Albemarle and Rockingham Counties, however, is my best guess; the officialy map that FloFC provided is not high-quality enough for me to make an accurate determination.

So, if you live in Charlottesville, Crozet, or Harrisonburg, let us know if you are geofenced or not and we’ll update the map!
