It’s Thursday folks. Thanks to Ben for kindly taking yesterday’s FKs while I made the solemn return to the United States from that abysmal match. I needed the sleep and the consolatory poutine. Here’s what happened yesterday:
First, New York City FC will officially host the winner of the match between Toronto FC and D.C. United in the conference semifinals at Citi Field, the home of the New York Mets. Because Game 4 of the ALCS between the New York Yankees and the Houston Astros was postponed due to weather, their series was shifted back a day. Therefore, NYCFC pulled the plug on having the match at Yankee Stadium.

A reminder that the match Saturday, in addition to being on TUDN (formerly Univision Deportes), will be streamed on D.C. United’s website.
El Clásico is set to take place next weekend, but La Liga is concerned about protests in Barcelona. So, they requested to Spain’s FA that the match be relocated from the Camp Nou to Real Madrid’s home, the Santiago Bernabeu. That move was rejected by the teams and the federation, leaving questions as to what the next step will be for arguably the biggest rivalry in the world.
NYCFC is off for over 2 weeks, so they enlisted the Chicago Fire as a sparring partner to keep them sharp during the layoff.
Will the USMNT ever recover under Gregg Berhalter?
Wayne Rooney (#4) and Luciano Acosta (#25) both made the list of top 25 selling jerseys in MLS.
Still upset at the USMNT’s historic loss to Canada? Me too. Air it all out in Stars & Stripes FC’s Community Corner.
Finally, we send special congratulations to Steven Birnbaum and his lovely wife on the birth of their child!
That’s it for today. You know the drill.
