Positional Leaders
Goalkeepers
Clean sheets were the standard this round, as Tim Melia (SKC, $8.0) and Luis Robles (NYR, $8.0) each earned one on the way to 10 points, and Andre Blake (PHI, $6.2) did the same on the way to 9 points. For DCU, Bill Hamid ($7.0) scored 4 points.
Defenders
Kim Kee-Hee (SEA, $8.0) and Seth Sinovic (SKC, $7.0) tied for the defensive lead with 12 points, with both earning a clean sheet and Sinovic adding an assist. Leandro Gonzalez Pirez (ATL, $6.7) had a goal on the way to 11 points. The D.C. defense was led by Oneil Fisher ($5.9) with 6 points, followed by Steven Birnbaum ($6.3) with 5, Joseph Mora ($5.7) with 4, and Kofi Opare ($5.7) with 3.
Midfielders
Jefferson Savarino (RSL, $9.2) scored two goals and had an assist on the way to 20 points, leading all midfielders and all players. That was a real nice declaration. His RSL teammate, Joao Plata ($11.5) paired a goal and an assist for 14 points, while Jonathan Osorio (TOR, $11.9) did the same for 12 points. For United, Russell Canouse ($6.3) led with 5 points, followed by Junior Moreno ($6.4) and Luciano Acosta ($10.0) with 3, and Paul Arriola ($7.5) and Yamil Asad ($9.7) with 2 each.
Forward
Both Sebastian Giovinco (TOR, $12.5), with two goals, and Corey Baird (RSL, $5.5), with a goal and two assists, tied for the lead among forwards with 13 points. Kei Kamara (VAN, $9.3) rounded out the top three with 12 points on a goal and an assist. Wayne Rooney ($10.8) led the DCU forwards with 2 points, while Darren Mattocks ($5.5) appeared for 1.
Looking Ahead
DCU, Portland, the Metros, Houston, Philadelphia, Dallas, and Toronto all play twice this round. I’m sticking with Andre Blake in goal, despite two road games at DCU and Orlando. In defense, I’m hoping Maynor Figueroa (DAL, $6.0) can pick up a cheap clean sheet at SJ or at home against Houston, and in midfield I like Jonathan Osorio at Portland and home for LAFC. At forward, have a look at Samuel Armenteros (POR, $7.7) at home for Toronto and at New England.
