2018 World Cup: Time, TV schedule and how to watch Colombia vs. England online

The Round of 16 ends today, and all four teams playing have to like the way the bracket looks

A wild, strange World Cup has given us plenty of surprises, and as the Round of 16 finishes up, we can only hope things stay entertaining. Russia shocked everyone by taking out Spain, opening up the side of the bracket that today’s games take place in. Sweden and Switzerland will start things off today, and both can see a distinct path to the final that neither team really dreamed of before the tournament began. In the afternoon, Colombia faces England in a game that could potentially be the best of the entire tournament.

Sweden vs. Switzerland

What to watch for: This game doesn’t seem, on the surface, like it will be enticing. But then, so often in this World Cup, we’ve been hit with surprises, so don’t make too many assumptions. For one, Sweden won a group in which they were treated like an afterthought (just like they were in qualifying, when they knocked Italy out) by stomping Mexico in their finale. Switzerland, meanwhile, won an intense game over Serbia via a 90th minute goal, and followed that up with more late drama against Costa Rica by scoring in the 88th minute and then conceding in stoppage time.

On paper, this game looks like it might be boring, but this tournament has ignored “on paper.” Let’s hope this one carries that tradition on.

Colombia vs. England

What to watch for: England and Belgium both seemed to feel that finishing in 2nd place in Group G would give them an easier path to the final before shifting gears to kinda-sorta try to win the group after 45 minutes. However, England’s prize in the short term is to face a Colombia team that is very much capable of knocking them out of the tournament. The sheer number of exciting, talented players on these teams should hopefully result in yet another thriller.
