MILLERtime When WYNNE’n still leads overall.
Positional Leaders
Goalkeepers
Luis Robles (NYR, $7.7) had a clean sheet on the way to 15 points, leading the goalkeepers. Behind him were Tim Howard (COL, $4.8) and Brad Guzan (ATL, $7.4), who both had a clean sheet and 12 and 9 points respectively. DCU’s David Ousted ($4.7) scored 1 point.
Defenders
Jersey’s Kemar Lawrence ($8.7) paired a clean sheet with a goal on the way to 16 points, leading all defenders. Meanwhile, Larrys Mabiala (POR, $9.6) scored twice on the way to 15 points, followed by Mikey Ambrose (ATL, $7.1), who coupled a clean sheet with an assist for 12 points. United’s defense was led by Oneil Fisher ($4.0) with 5 points, followed by Frederic Brillant ($5.9), Jalen Robinson ($4.4), and Steve Birnbaum ($5.6) with 2 points each.
Midfielders
Diego Valeri’s (POR, $11.8) three assists and 15 points set the pace among midfielders. Behind him, Miguel Almiron ($12.6) and DCU’s Yamil Asad ($9.0) scored 14 points each, with both scoring twice. D.C.’s remaining midfielders were Zoltan Stieber ($9.4) with 6 points, Ian Harkes ($4.4) with 3 points, the pair of Chris Durkin ($5.0) and Luciano Acosta ($7.6) with 2 each, and Junior Moreno ($4.2) with 1.
Forwards
LAFC’s Adama Diomande ($8.8) led all forwards and all players with a hat trick and 17 points. His teammate, Latif Blessing ($5.7) scored a goal and assisted two more on the way to 16 points, and Cristian Penilla (NE, $9.4) scored twice for 13 points. Darren Mattocks ($8.5) led the United midfield with 4 points, while Bruno Miranda ($4.7) and Patrick Mullins ($4.0) scored 1 each.
Looking Ahead
A bunch of teams play twice this round, starting on Tuesday night: Houston, LA, Minnesota, Toronto, Dallas, Atlanta, Colorado, Seattle, RSL, Kansas City, and the Galaxy. Obviously it’s time to load up on two-game players. In goal, I’m leaning towards Joe Willis (HOU, $6.1) with home games against LA and Minnesota, and in defense I like Tommy Smith (COL, $6.2) at home against Seattle and at Montreal. Tomas Martinez (HOU, $9.7) is a good midfield option, and absolutely use Adama Diomande again at Houston and at home against Orlando.
