Fantasy Focus: The Moralez of the Story

He played twice, but one game was enough

MLS: Real Salt Lake at New York City FC Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

With a score of 139 points, Salisbury United edged out the competition to lead the round.

Going all in on the SKC defense didn’t quite pan out, but captaining Maxi Moralez (NYC, $11.8) to the tune of 46 points sure helped. MILLERtime When WYNNE’n’s overall lead has expanded to 56 points.

Positional Leaders

Goalkeepers

Despite playing twice, Sean Johnson (NYC, $8.2) had company for the positional lead in the form of David Bingham (LAG, $6.4), with each earning a clean sheet on the way to 11 points. In third was Tim Howard (COL, $6.8), who had his own clean sheet and 10 points. D.C.’s Steve Clark ($5.5) deputized for David Ousted and scored 8 points.

Defenders

The NYC duo of Maxime Chanot ($7.7) and Ronald Matarrita ($4.5) shared the positional lead with 13 points, with both earning a clean sheet, and Matarrita adding an assist. Steven Beitashour (LA, $7.5) had his own clean sheet and 11 points. For United, Steve Brinbaum ($4.5) led with 11 points, followed by Frederic Brillant ($6.3) with 9, Nick DeLeon ($5.9) with 8, Joseph Mora ($4.6) with 7, and both Kofi Opare ($4.7) and Oneil Fisher ($4.0) scored 1.

Midfielders

Maxi Moralez (NYC, $11.8) led all midfielders and all players with 23 points over two games, including a goal, an assist, and a whopping 8 key passes in his first game alone. His teammates, Alexander Ring ($9.1) and Yangel Herrera ($8.6) were second and third, with 15 and 14 points respectively. Ring scored a goal. DCU’s midfield was led by Ulises Segura ($6.9) with 10 points, followed by Luciano Acosta ($8.0) with 6, Yamil Asad ($7.9) with 5, and both Junior Moreno ($6.1) and Paul Arriola ($5.2) with 1.

Forwards

Both Ismael Tajouri-Shradi (NYC, $7.5) and Carlos Quintero (MIN, $9.5) scored a goal on the way to 12 points for the positional lead. Meanwhile, Will Bruin (SEA, $7.3) had a goal and an assist for 11 points. Patrick Mullins ($4.5) was the only United forward to score, with 2 points.

Looking Ahead

Firstly, D.C. is on bye this week. Everyone else plays once. I like Jimmy Maurer (DAL, $6.5) in goal at home against Philadelphia, and Tommy Smith (COL, $6.6) in defense at RSL. Nicolas Lodeiro (SEA, $12.2) is a must in the midfield as the Sounders host Minnesota, and play Dom Dwyer (ORL, $10.5), and his four goals in three games, at home against San Jose.
