Fantasy Focus: Who’s the Rossi?

LAFC isn’t playing around.

MLS: Los Angeles FC at Real Salt Lake Jeff Swinger-USA TODAY Sports

Round two is in the books, and Wang set the pace with 90 points.

Gyasi Zardes (LAG, $9.2) continues to score, with two goals and 13 points, and Miguel Almiron (ATL, $10.3) punished anyone who dropped him after round 1 with 12 points on a goal and an assist. MILLERtime When WYNNE’n is the new overall leader.

Positional Leaders

Goalkeepers

Matt Turner (NE $4.7) led the goalkeepers with 10 points on a saved penalty, while Tyler Miller (LA, $5.5) did the same for 9 points. Luis Robles (NYR, $6.0) scored 8 points on a clean sheet and dozens of overreactions to his performance as has to do with the national team. For D.C., David Ousted ($4.7) scored 3 points.

Defenders

The pair of Steven Beitashour (LA, $6.0) and Connor Lade (NYR, $5.0) tied for the lead with 13 points. Beitashour put up two assists, and Lade had a clean sheet and an assist. Kyle Duncan (NYR, $4.5) had a clean sheet and 11 points. Nick DeLeon ($4.0) paced the United defense with 4 points, followed by Frederic Brillant ($5.4) with 3, Steve Birnbaum ($4.6) with 2, and Oneil Fisher ($4.4) with 1.

Midfielders

There was a three way tie for the midfield lead, with Carlos Rivas (ORL, $7.5), Felipe Gutierrez (SKC, $8.7), and Vincent Bezecourt (NYR, $6.0). Rivas and Gutierrez had two goals apiece, and Bezecourt had two assists. For DCU, Junior Moreno ($6.8) led with 4 points; while Ulises Segura ($7.3) had 3; the trio of Yamil Asad ($8.3), Zoltan Stieber ($7.6), and Paul Arriola ($7.2) had 2; and the pair of Chris Durkin ($4.0) and Luciano Acosta ($8.0) scored 1.

Forwards

LAFC’s Diego Rossi ($10.2) led all forwards and all players with 23 points on two goals and three assists. Hector Villalba (ATL, $9.5) scored 17 points on a goal and two assists, and Carlos Vela (LA, $10.5) had a goal and an assist for 16 points. United’s Darren Mattocks ($7.3) had 8 points, while Patrick Mullins ($6.5) appeared with 1.

Looking Ahead

It’s hard to argue with Zack Steffen (CLB, $6.5) in goal at Philadelphia. I like Erik Zavaleta (TOR, $5.3) in defense at Montreal, and Aleksandar Katai (CHI, $9.0) is an intriguing midfield play at Minnesota. Lastly, you’ve got to play Gyasi Zardes at Philly.
